Supporting the Work of Community Developers
We help bring new opportunities to neighborhoods
Community development improves the quality of life for neighborhood residents.
Everyone wants to live in an attractive neighborhood that offers a chance to prosper and feel connected. But in many Twin Cities neighborhoods, residents have fewer opportunities to make a good life.
With LISC’s support, community developers help improve the look of those neighborhoods and the quality of life there. They create new opportunities in housing and employment, and provide access to quality education, lively marketplaces, and healthy lifestyles.
Community development is an effective way of closing the inequality gap that holds back neighborhood residents and our regional economy. The effects of these inequities were the subject of a recent groundbreaking study sponsored by local business executives called Mind the Gap and a recent Twin Cities Public Television series called Closing the Gap.
