Rondo Community Outreach Library/University Dale Apartments
The library downstairs
The co-location of attractive affordable housing and a new library gives children and parents access to resources that can help at school and at home.
The recently opened Rondo Community Outreach Library is a unique facility that features three floors of mixed-income apartments above the largest branch of the St. Paul Library system. The 98 apartments and ground floor library, a national model of community outreach, provide services and learning opportunities to an ethnically diverse population, including many recent immigrants and low-income families. The name “Rondo” memorializes St. Paul’s Rondo Avenue and its legendary African American neighborhood.
