Dale Street Village
A model of mixed-use development
Dale Street Village will offer residents and visitors housing, retail, dining, and entertainment opportunities.
Efforts begun in 1996 to revitalize the intersection of University Avenue and Dale Street will come to fruition in 2009 with the completion of Dale Street Village. The village, a collaboration of five nonprofit developers, will be a multi-use development that includes a mix of 12,000 square feet of street-level commercial space, 60 units of senior rental housing, and 24 condominiums. The project will bring a mix of housing, retail, food, and entertainment to this prime location in the center of St. Paul's fastest growing community. Thanks to the small-business incubation efforts of the Neighborhood Development Corporation, many African American entrepreneurs will be able to participate in this development. In an area best known for its adult theaters in the 1980s and 90s, a project of this magnitude will represent a major accomplishment for residents and businesses of Frogtown and the City of St. Paul.
