Franklin Portland Gateway

An ambitious six-block community “makeover”

The redevelopment of the Franklin Portland Gateway is revitalizing all four corners of a busy, long-troubled intersection. When finished, the site will include over 300 rental and homeownership opportunities and a wide array of commercial businesses.

In 2003, the first corner was completed—Children’s Village Center, which offers 30 apartments for low-income families and a large community center. The second corner was completed in 2007—The Jourdain, a mixed-use building offering stylish affordable apartments with easy access to stores, schools, and parks. It was named the best community impact project in the Twin Cities by Twin Cities Business Journal. With 50% of the redevelopment already done, construction on Franklin Portland Gateway’s third corner—The Wellstone—started in late 2007.
