Vikings and LISC support Minneapolis Public School’s “Team Up for Turf” campaign

This fall, mascot Viktor the Viking and Vikings players presented $200,000 to Washburn High School in south Minneapolis to help refurbish historic MacQuarrie Field. It’s all part of the ongoing NFL/LISC Grassroots program, which has so far brought $850,000 to Twin Cities schools and nonprofits, providing healthy sports opportunities for hundreds of youngsters.

Pull on your farmer’s hat!

All across the areas where we focus our work, community developers and residents are plowing up earth and creating community gardens that nourish the neighborhood. These urban agriculture plots not only provide fresh food for residents, they enable both youth and adults to learn about nutrition, cooking, horticulture, entrepreneurship…and community spirit. It’s one more example of comprehensive community development at work in the Twin Cities.

Small business’ best friend

For years, the Neighborhood Development Center has built community economies from within, by supporting small businesses. Right now, they’re instrumental in helping entrepreneurs along University Avenue survive the upheaval of light rail construction.

US Bancorp has been a long time partner of LISC's, not only here in the Twin Cities, but across the country. Locally, US Bancorp has invested more than $2 million in grants and favorable financing through LISC to help build strong neighborhoods, enhancing the quality of life in our community.
