Fostering Affordable Homes

The foundation of Twin Cities LISC's work lies in the development of affordable housing for individuals and families. Over the last twenty years LISC grants, loans, and equity investments have supported the development of over 8,500 homes for people in single-family houses, duplexes, townhomes, and apartments.

LISC's most early work in St. Paul focused on supporting CDC's efforts to redevelop single-family homes block by block. Given the popularity of the Low Income Housing Tax Credit, LISC quickly became involved in the development of affordable rental housing, broadening the CDC's housing expertise. Over the years LISC has become both a financial and information resource for housing developers, community organizations, public entities and others interested and involved in the development and management of affordable housing.

Today, LISC is helping shape the future of affordable housing and strengthening local housing markets. This includes supporting our partners as they navigate the uncertainty of the current market, working with our partners to develop a Foreclosure Recovery Plan and tools, and looking ahead with our partners nationally and locally to envision a post-recovery housing market that supports vibrant communities of choice.
